Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 3, 2026. This policy covers the OTDeck app for Windows, Linux and macOS, its MCP server and otdeck.com, run by Aleksandr Kozlov, trading as OTDeck, Yerevan, Armenia ("we"), which is responsible for the data described here.
The short version
- OTDeck talks to your brokers, PLCs, gateways and OPC UA servers directly from your computer. Nothing about them — addresses, topics, registers, nodes, values, certificates, credentials — is sent to us.
- We have no servers for the app and no user accounts.
- No analytics, no third-party trackers, no cookies on this website, and no telemetry or crash reporting in the app. We do not sell data or show ads.
What the app connects to
- Your devices and servers: the MQTT brokers, Modbus TCP devices, serial ports and OPC UA servers you add, only to do what you ask.
- Licence checks (Pro and Team): when you activate a key online and from time to time afterwards, the app sends the key, an activation identifier, the app version and a hash of the computer's id (never the id itself, and not the computer's name) to Polar's licence API; the device shows up as "OTDeck" plus the first characters of that hash, so you can tell your devices apart. Offline activation sends nothing from the machine itself: you carry the request file (the key, that hash, the app version and a one-time code) to otdeck.com/activate, which passes the key to the licence API and keeps only the signed answer, without the key, for 30 days so that uploading the same file twice is safe.
- Version policy (Pro and Team, with each licence check): the app reads a small signed file from otdeck.com that says which OTDeck versions are still supported, sending only its version in the request's user-agent ("OTDeck/1.2.3") and what any web request carries, such as your IP address.
- Update checks, only if you allow them or check by hand: the app reads a small file from otdeck.com. A check sends nothing about you or your devices beyond what any web request carries, such as your IP address.
- A team project file, only if you set an https address for it.
Nothing else is contacted.
AI agents
When you connect an AI agent such as Claude, it starts OTDeck's MCP server on your computer, which gives it access only to the connections you share, read-only unless you allow writes. What the agent then sends to its own AI provider is governed by that agent and that provider, not by us.
What stays on your computer
Connection profiles, tag lists, settings, recordings and the app's log file are stored locally. Passwords, keys and certificates' private keys are kept in your system's credential store (Credential Manager on Windows, the Secret Service on Linux, the Keychain on macOS). The licence state is stored locally too. None of it is sent to us.
Payments
When sales open, Polar (Polar Software, Inc.) sells OTDeck as merchant of record. Polar processes your payment and billing details under its own privacy policy; we receive your name, email address, country, what you bought and the state of your licence keys. We never see your card details. The Buy Team button asks otdeck.com to open a Polar checkout for the number of seats you chose; otdeck.com stores nothing about it except, for one hour, a counter under a one-way hash of your network address to stop abuse. A Team buyer assigns seats to teammates' email addresses in Polar's customer portal; those addresses stay with Polar and reach us only as the holders of the keys. We use this to provide your licence and support, and to meet legal and accounting obligations.
Waitlist
If you join the waitlist on otdeck.com, we store your email address, the optional answers you choose (your role and the protocols you use), your browser's user-agent string and your country as Cloudflare reports it, with the date. We use it only to email you about OTDeck releases. Ask us and we remove it.
To stop abuse, the waitlist counts requests per network address for one hour. It stores a one-way hash of the address, never the address itself, and the counter is deleted automatically after an hour.
Service providers
- Cloudflare — hosting of this website and the waitlist.
- GitHub — hosting of the app's downloads and update files, once published.
- Polar — payments and licence keys, as described above.
Some of them are outside your country, including in the United States; where the law requires it, transfers rely on the providers' standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.
How long we keep data
Purchase records are kept as long as accounting law requires. Waitlist entries are kept until the list is no longer used or you ask us to remove yours.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, its correction or its deletion at support@otdeck.com. Depending on where you live — for example under the GDPR in the EU and the UK — you can also object to the processing, ask for it to be restricted, and complain to your data protection authority.
Children
OTDeck is a tool for professionals and is not directed at children under 16.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes too.
